Leah is a cannabis marketing and event production professional who has designed and hosted cannabis events in the Bay Area for several years. Originally from Mendocino County, she worked in nonprofits leading marketing teams before transitioning to cannabis, where she has worked for several brands. She is also a certified Ganjier. In person events are about creating space for connection. I believe we are stronger together and building community brings greater resiliency. My intention for these events is to create space for other women in the industry to feel supported, to develop relationships, and to tap into our collective power to face all the challenges that the California cannabis industry can bring!

Chiah, a Mendocino Generations farmer, was born and raised in Mendocino County, California. Cannabis has always been a part of her life. She is a mother of two wild boys, a gardener, a certified herbalist, an Institute for Integrative Nutrition certified health coach, a small business owner, a jeweler, and an artist. Chiah has Lyme disease and started the local Mendocino County Lyme Support Group for others with Lyme Disease. She has grown cannabis and has been making and using cannabis medicines for her conditions and to help others for many years. As a business owner she has experience in many aspects of running a retail store and small business, managing employees, and organizing events. Some call her a jackie of all trades who has energy for many projects and wears many hats in the local community. Chiah and her family run River Txai Farms in Redwood Valley, CA.
Elevated Yoga @MADELINEBERRYYOGA
Born and raised in Sonoma County, Madeline grew up in the heart of the Northern California’s “Wine & Weed” mecca (with family ties to both). She started working in the California Cannabis Industry back in 2019 and holds teaching certifications in Yoga, Pilates and Xtend Barre. She believes in breaking any stigmas (aka “lazy stoner”) around those who consume and strongly advocates for normalizing cannabis use and how it can be a part of your daily mental/physical health and wellness practice. Over the past few years, she has been able to combine her passion for teaching yoga, along with her knowledge of the potential benefits cannabis can offer to host private local “Elevated Yoga” consumption classes partnering with Budist to provide attendees samples of some of her favorite brands such as Space Gem, Kiva, and Care by Design. She also founded “Wine Country Yoga” in 2020 teaching monthly pop-up Yoga + Wine events at Sonoma County wineries during the summer months. Joey Vayda is a seasoned professional in the beauty industry, she is a cosmetologist and makeup artist and face painter, Her passion for making people feel beautiful led her to explore the world of face painting in 2015, where she found joy in transforming faces into works of art. With a background in rave and festival fire dance costuming, Joey brings a unique and creative edge to her glitter makeup designs, ensuring that her clients stand out and shine at any event. spreading joy and enhancing beauty in all ways is her goal. Joey Vayda continues to inspire and delight her clients with her artistic talents.

Dawn Bazurto comes from the Legacy cannabis space, having been convicted of multiple cultivation/distribution felonies, over 21 years ago. Dawn founded Lady Gemini, a former cannabis brand under the local and state Social Equity Programs. Over the last 5 years she has been working closely with Compassion Programs, namly Dear Cannabis, to formulate and produce 2 medical grade tinctures. One formulated for anxiety and the other for respiratory health. This project fueled her desire and passion to deep dive into Herbalism and has since become a 2x Certified Herbalist with a flair for formulation as well as a Certified Plant Spirit Ceremony facilitator. Sharing knowledge and passion while building community is key in this industry.
Maureen “Mo” Smyth, BSN RN, has 20 years of clinical Registered Nurse experience and 5 years as a dedicated cannabis educator.
When Mo started studying cannabis and discovered its medicinal properties, she developed a passion for understanding how cannabis interacts with the body. This drove her to turn her passion into a business of teaching others.
